Overnight Lane Restrictions Throughout Pittsburgh Area

Road Work Sign

PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) — Lane and shoulder restrictions could make overnight travel tricky this week.

Overnight lane restrictions on the Parkway East begin Monday night. I-376 will be down to one lane in both directions between the Fort Pitt Bridge and Squirrel Hill Tunnel from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night through Thursday, weather permitting.

The outbound Fort Pitt Tunnel will also be down to one lane beginning at 10 p.m. Monday. Luckily, that maintenance work will be completed by 5 a.m. Tuesday.

Lane and shoulder restrictions will also occur throughout the North Shore area the next two weeks.

Overnight sign improvement work will occur from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. weeknights through Friday night, February 15 in the following locations:
  • Single-lane and shoulder restrictions on northbound I-279 between the Fort Duquesne Bridge and the Chestnut Street/East Ohio Street/Etna (Exit 1D) off-ramp;
  • Single-lane restrictions on northbound I-579 between the East Ohio Street Bridge overpass to the merge point with northbound I-279;
  • Lane shift on the Fort Duquesne Bridge ramp from the Route 65 split to the northbound I-279 merge point;
  • Shoulder restriction on northbound Route 28 from Anderson Street to the Chestnut Street Bridge;
  • Shoulder restriction on southbound I-279 between the North Shore (Exit 1B) and the North 65/Ohio River Boulevard (Exit 1C) interchanges; and
  • Two-lane closure on the Fort Duquesne Bridge (upper deck) beginning at the Fort Duquesne Boulevard on-ramp.  This work will occur Monday through Wednesday nights, February 4-6.  The Pennsylvania State Police will assist with traffic control.
