PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - If you requested a mail-in ballot for next Tuesday's primary election, Allegheny County officials say you should have it by Friday.

That last batch of more than 280,000 applications was processed at yesterday's deadline and went in the mail today.

If all those ballots are cast, turnout would be 36 percent, far exceeding predictions

They must be returned and received at the elections office by 8 p.m. on election night, June 2.

They may also be handed in at the County Office Building downtown.

Mail-in ballots will not be accepted at voting locations.

A special counter will be open this weekend through Tuesday.

Those that still want to vote in person can still do so but should check the county's website to see if their voting location has moved.

Some people have claimed they are received more than one ballot and believe they could potentially vote more than once, but Allegheny County Council Member At-Large Bethany Hallam tells KDKA Radio, each voter has their own unique bar code and if someone has three ballots they have the same bar code and it will only scan once.

In addition anyone who has filed for a mail-in ballot will not be allowed to vote at a physical polling place.

"They will be marked as 'voted' on the voter rolls at the polls and will have to request a provisional ballot," said Hallam. "Provisional ballots are only counted after an investigation is conducted to determine that voter has indeed not voted."
