PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Larry's Hometown Heroes is coming up on Tuesday, March 26. The theme will be Love is Stronger Than Hate.

KDKA Radio will present its Lifetime Achievement Honor to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame singer, songwriter, producer and record executive, William "Smokey" Robinson.

He joined KDKA Radio on Monday morning to answer a few questions about his life and career. Here are some of the questions that he was asked:

Did you give the song "My Girl" to the Temptations?

"I didn't give it to the Temps. If it weren't for the Temps, I probably would never have written 'My Girl,'" Smokey said.

"I wrote 'My Girl' specifically for the Temps and specifically for David Ruffen's voice."

What is your favorite song?

"That's an impossible question, but I can tell you my favorite album; my favorite album of all-time is What's Going On by Marvin Gaye," Smokey explains.

"He lived right around the corner from me and we were together almost every day of our lives. I would go over to his house and he would sit on the piano writing, What's Going on, and he would say, 'Smoke, God is writing this album. I'm a catalyst because god is writing this.'"

How did you maintain yourself after dealing with racism throughout your life?

"It's something that you have to maintain. I think, that of all the emotions that we have as human beings, the most ridiculous, stupid one of them, is prejudice against each other because of color, belief, religion or location," Smokey added.

"When it all boils down to it, we are all earthlings, and we are all on this little sphere, floating around in space together. We have nowhere to go right now other than right here, so we need to try to get it together with each other, so that we can maintain this planet.

Join us Tuesday, March 26 at 5:30 p.m. at Rivers Casino where Robinson will be honored along with five other people doing extraordinary things in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Tree of Life Synagogue rabbi will give the keynote address.
