PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The owner of a local real estate company made the holidays a little easier for a group of people recently.
A week before Christmas Michael Cowden, owner of Cowden Creek Reality was enjoying a meal at Juliano’s Restaurant in Robinson Township when he decided to do something unexpected.
Cowden picked up the check for everyone that was eating in the restaurant while he was there.
“My family didn’t have much money growing up,” Cowden told KDKA Radio. “My parents always made sure we never wanted for anything. But times were tough especially during the holidays.”
Juliano’s says it is the first time that anything like that has happened at the restaurant in over 40 years of business.
Cowden says he didn’t do for the publicity but to let people know there are still people out there doing good in the world.
“Not that this act was to release financial stress for people but just a reminder that things are okay and people care. This world isn’t just filled with bad people. We are want the best for each other at the end of the day and if this little gift to each person brightened their day just a little bit and maybe they will pay it forward to someone from receiving this gift, the gesture was well worth it. Life is good and I like to thank the community and surrounding areas that help raise me to be successful.”
Earlier in the year, Cowden Creek purchased a piece of the former Log Jammer at Kennywood.
The $11,000 spent on the Log Jammer flume goes to a charity that gives sick children a Florida vacation.
