
PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Slippery Rock and Edinboro Universities in Western Pennsylvania are the first to shut down in-person classes over fears of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Neither university has had a case of the quickly-spreading virus.
Spring Break is extended another week at both universities and in-person classes will transition to being taught online.
Students already enrolled in online classes will resume on March 16.
While Slippery Rock and Edinboro are the first in the Western part of the commonwealth to shut down in-person classes, West Chester University was the first in PA to move to online-only classes on Tuesday.
The University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon are apparently working on plans go online but details have yet to be revealed.
The University of West Virginia announced Tuesday evening they were suspending classes through March 27 and will have online-only classes beginning March 30 until further notice.
