Man Who Shot State Trooper Dead After 14 Hour Standoff

Nelson Twp, Pa. (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A gunman who barricaded himself inside his house after shooting a state trooper in North-central Pennsylvania was fatally shot this morning, after a 14-hour standoff with police.

Troopers say he fired at them while they were conducting a welfare check at the home in Nelson Township, Tioga County on Tuesday.

One trooper was airlifted from the scene after being shot.

He is listed in stable condition.

Another was treated for a leg injury.

 Police say the unidentified man continued to fire at them and refused to surrender before he was killed around 2 a.m. ​
