PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA)- Should everyone be wearing some sort of face mask against Caronavirus when going out in public? There's no firm recommendation yet from federal and state health officials.
Pennsylvania Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine says N-95 masks which offer the most protection should be left for healthcare workers.
"But for cloth masks, (The recommendation is) my mask protects you. Your mask protects me."
Pennsylvania U.S. Senator Pat Toomey is among those getting behind the Mask 4 All movement.
"It probably does significantly reduce the risk that people could inadvertently transmit it," Toomey said in a Twitter post. He is urging the Centers for Disease Control to update its advisory.
As for Dr. Levine, she says, "We are observing the CDC's discussions. We are having our own discussions. I don't have a specific recommendation at this time."
