PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Pittsburgh area motorists are dealing with a variety of vehicle problems in this cold weather.

AAA East Central says they received more than 270 calls for service Wednesday morning, mostly for dead batteries.

Brandon Cutler, who works at Advance Auto Parts in Carnegie, says corrosion on battery terminals is a sure sign you are about to have problems. Another issue drivers may face is with window washer fluid.

“The coldest one goes to  -35 [degrees], there are some that only go to zero,” Cutler told KDKA Radio's Joe DeStio. With wind chill temperatures reaching -30 degrees in the Pittsburgh area, the window washer fluid will “ freeze the moment you spray it.”

He says the store will get slammed as soon as it gets warm enough for people to get outside.
