PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020) - A couple is suing Hitchhiker Brewing over its Mount Lebanon taproom.
Jason Sheraw and Adelle Nalevanko claim the pub on Castle Shannon Boulevard gets overcrowded and rowdy.
Their lawyer, Robert Goldman, tells KDKA Radio's Lynne Hayes-Freeland the pub property backs up to his clients’ property.
“You have trespassing . . . there’s no fence between the property line so you’re free to just trespass across his property. He’s got trash left in his property, he’s observed people public(ly) urinating and it’s now come to the point that is’ a nuisance,” said Goldman.
The suit also names Mount Lebanon.
Goldman says the business has outgrown the building's zoning and laws are not being enforced.
“In that definition, the district provides that those types of businesses will be unobtrusive, low-intensity and conducted in a manor that’s compatible with the surrounding residential neighborhood.”
Representatives for Hitchhiker Brewing and Mount Lebanon have not commented.
Hitchhiker was recently named a “Best Brewery to Watch in 2019” by Hop Culture magazine.
