PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – Professor Alan Dershowitz joined Wendy Bell on Sunday to discuss governors’ rights during times of emergencies, as well as his opinion on the #MeToo movement and the accusations that Joe Biden is currently facing.
“There’s no area of law less clear than [during times of emergencies]…it’s not clear whether a governor has the power to say, ‘You must stay open; you must stay close’. Or even whether a president has that power," Dersshowitz said.
“We’re in an uncertain and uncharted area of law.”
Professor Dershowitz also weighed in on the #MeToo movement and the current accusations made towards Joe Biden.
“#MeToo is a double-edge sword. On one hand, it’s important to expose people who are real predators. On the other hand, the #MeToo movement has been a license to lie, to extort, to take revenge.”
“You believe people. When they are telling the truth. But you believe the evidence, you don’t believe on gender.”
“Where the democrats have gotten themselves into deep trouble…the way they went after Kavanaugh was unspeakable. They just didn’t have the evidence there. They destroyed this man and his family and they put him through a horrible, horrible situation. For something that may or may not have occurred when he was 15 or 16 years old. It was horrible and despicable."
"You have to make sure the same standards apply to democrats. And republicans. To justices and to presidential nominees. And to me and to everyone else who’s been falsely accused. We have to have a single standard. We have to have an ability to look hard at the evidence."
