PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – With many businesses opening back up as Allegheny County moved into the green phase on Friday, June 6th, playgrounds, courts, and more are also getting ready to reopen.
The City of Pittsburgh playgrounds, basketball courts, spray parks, and ballfields are prepping to reopen. The Mellon Tennis Bubble will reopen at 50% capacity.
The reopening process will be done on a rolling basis, with most amenities open by Monday, June 15th.
Permits will also be available for rental of ballfields and open-air park shelters, marking the beginning of organized sports to resume, as long as organizers follow safety guidelines.
Permits for block parties and special events for outdoor groups will be allowed for groups up to 250 attendees, but there must be a COVID-19 safety plan that includes hand-washing and social distancing protocols.
Restrooms, water fountains, swimming pools, recreation centers, and senior centers will remain closed.
