PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto is urging members of the Urban Redevelopment Board to approve the latest set of plans for redevelopment of the Lower Hill District.

Last week, the board delayed a scheduled vote to give Hill District community groups more time to review the plans.

After the delay, the  Pittsburgh Penguins, who are developing the project, announced they would halt all work.

In his statement, Peduto says the development will create good paying union construction jobs and help further development.
