PennDOT announces statewide shutdowns, expiration extensions, halts construction

HARRISBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced Monday that all Driver License Centers and Photo License Centers offices in Pennsylvania will be closed for two weeks effective close of business on Monday, March 16. 

Any driver licenses, photo ID cards, learner's permits, vehicle registrations, safety inspections, emissions inspections, and Persons with Disabilities Parking Placards set to expire March 16, 2020 through March 31, 2020 will be extended to April 30, 2020.  


Also closed will be all District and County maintenance offices. All construction projects are now suspended in all counties, while PennDOT crews will be available in critical functions and emergency situations. 

PennDOT also announced that statewide rest areas and welcome centers will be closed effective 12:01 AM Tuesday, March 17, 2020.
