PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Over 450 vehicles lined up Monday for an emergency food distribution at the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Banks warehouse in Duquesne.

The distribution started at noon on Monday with some lined up as early as 7 a.m.

The Food Bank's Brian Gulish says that about 20 vehicles at a time enter the distribution zone where they pop their trunks.

"Volunteers will then pack the trunks with two boxes of food, limiting person to person contact in observance of the social distancing recommendations," said Gulish.

Joe Salay of McKeesport was first in line.

"I thought it started at nine o'clock this morning so that's why I got here a little earlier and then I found out noon and I'm like 'Oh, Lord'," said Salay.

The Food Bank will load 1,500 cars throughout the day.
