HARRISBURG, PA (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The Pennsylvania Department of Health has announced its coronavirus update for Saturday, May 9.
The new cases and deaths are as of 12:00 a.m.
The Department has announced 1,078 new positives, which brings the statewide total to 55,316.
There are confirmed cases in all 67 of Pennsylvania's counties.
There were 72 new deaths, which brings the state death toll to 3,688.
There have been 221,791 negative tests to date.
The most affected age group is the 25-49 range, making up 37% of the positive cases.
"As we prepare to move a number of counties from red to yellow, we need all Pennsylvanians to continue to follow the social distancing and mitigation efforts in place," Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine said.
"We must continue to protect our most vulnerable Pennsylvanians, which includes our seniors, those with underlying health issues, our healthcare workers and our first responders. I am proud of the work that Pennsylvanians have done so far, but we cannot stop now, we must continue to take the necessary steps to protect ourselves from COVID-19."
The Pennsylvania Department of Health has an online map to follow the locations and densities of the positive cases across the state.
