PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Over three dozen residents of the Brighton Rehabilitation and Wellness Center in Beaver County have died from the novel coronavirus and more than half have tested positive.
That information comes from an analysis of state data by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Facility owner Comprehensive Healthcare will not release or confirm any numbers.
On Wednesday, Pennsylvania Department of Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine said the state is assisting.
"We actually have installed a temporary manager to help the facility, we have brought in our consultant . . . to do infection control and education, we have pushed out personal protective equipment," said Dr. Levine.
A lawsuit filed on Tuesday against the health department accuses Brighton staff of testing experimental COVID-19 treatments on residents.
