PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The statewide COVID-19 death total increased by 479 fatalities on Wednesday, Pennsylvania Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine says that number does not indicate and increase in deaths, but increased data entry.
"Today's update includes data matched from our electronic death reporting system over the last 10 days, this brings our statewide total to 2,195," said Levine.
All of the patients that have died were adults.
Allegheny County on Wednesday reported a lower death toll, after one fataility was found to have been incorrectly put into the reporting system.
44,366 cases of the novel coronavirus have now been identified in PA.
About 17 percent of those are in long-term care facilities and six percent found in health care workers.
