HARRISBURG, Pa. (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) — Some serious scotch is up for grabs.
The state Liquor Control Board will hold it’s first-ever Rare Vintage and Specialty Product Auction.
Spokesperson Shawn Kelly says two bottles of Macallan Single Malt Scotch are up for bids.
"The first is a 1949 which means it was put in a cask shortly after the end of World War II, amd sat in the cask for more than 50 years before it was bottled. It's an extremely rare bottle and bids for this start at $25,000."
If that's a little too steep, bidding for the 1989 cask starts at $9,000.
"This is the first auction we’re doing. It will be interesting to see how many people bid," Kelly said.
"But we anticipate pretty good interest from Scotch lovers, they're a pretty committed group and they have a chance to acquire something that would be the crown jewel of their collection."
Confidential bids can be submitted online until April 5.
