PA Reports Sharp Drop In COVID-19 Cases Monday

HARRISBURG (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - After Allegheny County announced a sharp drop in COVID-19 cases on Monday, The same is true for the rest of Pennsylvania.

The PA Department of Health is reporting 328 new coronavirus cases the commonwealth, for a total of 95,742 since the pandemic began. The recovery rate is at 77 percent.

135,631 tests have been administered in the past 7 days with 5,560 positive.

Seven additional deaths are being reported across PA with the total number of those who have lost their life to COVID-19 at 6,911.

A large number of the state’s cases continue to be in younger people.

Age breakdown of those who have tested positive:

  • 1% are ages 0-4;
  • 1% are ages 5-12;
  • Nearly 3% are ages 13-18;
  • 8% are ages 19-24; 
  • 37% are ages 25-49; 
  • Nearly 24% are ages 50-64; and
  • 26% are ages 65 or older.

Of the state’s total cases, 18,279 are in residents of nursing and personal care homes with 3,481 among employees for a total of 21,760 at 750 facilities in 55 counties.

4,699 of the total deaths have occurred in residents of nursing and personal care homes.

About 7,158 cases are in healthcare workers.
