PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) — It's almost over. The $90 million Parkway North Improvement Project that began in 2017 will be complete in mid-June.
Until mid-June, motorists will see lane restrictions along E. General Robinson St. between Anderson St. (the road that takes you to the 9th St. Bridge) and the ramp to Route 28 in the North Shore.
Crews will so preparation work this week, with two of three lanes closing Friday through the end of the project.
River Ave. will also be closed at E. General Robinson. Detours will be posted.
PennDOT spokesperson Steve Cowan tells KDKA Radio's Lynne Hayes-Freeland it's one of the final pieces to one of the largest projects completed locally.
"Between the Fort Duquesne Bridge and Camp Horne interchange … we've done roadway reconstruction both northbound and southbound, we've worked on over 100 bridges, walls and overhead sign structures.
"Just so much work has occurred. It has been impactful but people have been very patient and we're getting very close to the end," Cowan said. "Mid-June this project should be complete."
Any motorists interested in keeping up on specific roadways can send Cowan an email to receive updates.
