WASHINGTON (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto is in Washington D.C. for a second day pushing for tougher gun control laws.
Tuesday morning the Mayor met with Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomey who along with West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin has authored background check legislation on guns.
Peduto and Tommey also discussed red flag proposals and the city’s ordinance banning the use of assault-style weapons.
Peduto said that he had a good meeting with Toomey and that “lots of work needed to build Bipartisan support for Background Checks & Red Flag Laws, but progress is being made.”
