HARRISBURG (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) — Pennsylvania residents who do not identify as male or female will have a gender-neutral option on their license in 2020.
The new option will use an X indicator for gender.
PennDOT announced the news on Wednesday, saying that customers have been asking for the gender-neutral option, and that they have monitored how other states have implemented that change.
They did not say when the option will become available, but that it will be before this time next year.
