PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The University of Pittsburgh is working on a vaccine for the coronavirus.
Pitt's Center for Vaccine Research announced on Wednesday afternoon they will receive samples of the virus and will start working on a vaccine.
"Pitt is one of the few elite institutions to receive samples," the University said.At least 13 people have been diagnosed with the respiratory illness in the United States with tens of thousands in China, where the virus is believed to have started.
Coronavirus began in the Wuhan, Hubei Province and over 1,100 people have died across China since the recent outbreak began.
