PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) — Summer is here, which means Pittsburgh’s Office of Special Events is starting their free summer events.

The Dollar Bank Cinema in the Park starts June 2, offering free movies at ten different parks throughout the summer.

Five farmers’ markets are open now through the fall, with a new monthly addition in the city’s Larimer neighborhood and two more opening in June.

Jazz music will float over three parks weekly, with free concerts at Highland, Riverview, and Schenley Parks. Stick around for free movies at Schenley and Riverview; dancing follows the Highland Park concerts.

Mellon Park concerts will bring free classical music, with the “Bach, Beethoven and Brunch” series.

Summer Soul Line Dancing is back for another summer at three parks, and a special July session at the West End Overlook.

If dancing isn’t your speed, footraces are scheduled throughout the summer including 5K runs, fitness walks and the Richard S. Caliguiri City of Pittsburgh Great Race.

Inclement weather may cause cancellations. For cancellation updates, follow @PghEventsOffice on Twitter or Facebook.
