Pittsburgh Firefighter Charged After Video Shows Him Pinning 13-Year-Old Boy Down

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A City of Pittsburgh firefighter is on administrative leave after video footage was released that show the man pinning down a 13-year-old boy at a playground.

On June 25, police responded to reports of an altercation at a playground on Saline Street.

When officers arrived on the seen they saw the adult 46-year-old Thomas D’Andrea, holding the boy down and ordered him to release the 13-year-old.

“The adult assumed the juvenile of vandalizing an abandoned construction truck near the playground,” the report says.

They also both accused the other of throwing punches that they both said they did in self-defense.

Police say they didn’t see the incident but saw video from the boy’s family that showed D’Andrea pinning the boy down.

D’Andrea is changed with simple assault and criminal mischief as police continue to investigate.
