PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA - The 29th annual Pittsburgh Irish Festival will have a new home this September.

The Lots at Sandcastle will now host the celebration of Irish music and culture after the last day of the 2018 festival was canceled due to severe flooding at the Riverplex at Sandcastle.

The Lots refers to the main parking lot at Sandcastle in Homestead.

"This move will eliminate weather as a factor that can negatively impact the event," said Mairin Petrone, Pittsburgh Irish Festival Executive Director. "By moving to The Lots, we are able erect additional tents that will provide cover from the elements.

The location move will also provide easier navigation for those attending the festival.

Petrone added that parking will not be an issue.

"Additional parking will be made available on the Sandcastle grounds, including a new premium parking lot option, and guests will have the opportunity to take a shuttle from other nearby lots."

More details about the 2019 Irish Festival will be released soon on their website.
