PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A Pittsburgh Police Officer is taking the city, and the mayor, to federal court.
30-year-old Robert Kramer was ordered re-instated by an arbitrator after he was fired following a 2017 road rage incident, in which he was later acquitted.
At a news conference on Thursday with his attorney Joel Sansone, Kramer says his career was taken from him by a wrongful investigation and slanderous comments made by Mayor Bill Peduto.
"My department and all the officers involved in the prosecution owe me an apology," said Kramer. "The mayor, Bill Peduto, owes me an apology."
Kramer's lawyer has also filed a civil rights complaint, claiming Detective Edward Green lied under oath in the criminal case.
"The only difference between Mr. Green who was not fired and Bob Kramer who was is that Bob Kramer is white and Edward Green is Black," said Sansone.
A Police spokesperson says Kramer was fired for violations of policies, not the criminal prosecution.
