Pittsburgh Public Schools To Hand Out Grab-And-Go Meals For E-Learning Students

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Pittsburgh Public Schools will be starting an initiative on August 31 that will provide grab-and-go meals for families during the first nine week period of e-learning.

Those meals will be available for parents and students to access at 27 different schools and will be given out Monday through Thursday (not including holidays).

There will be meals for both breakfast and lunch and can be picked up from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and again from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Meals can be picked up at any time slot.

The meal locations will be closed for Labor Day on September 7 and Yom Kippur on September 28.

“While cafeterias are closed for a traditional school setting, our food services staff is ready to provide nutritious meals for the first nine weeks of E-Learning,” said Dr. Anthony Hamlet, Superintendent. “We invite families to visit a nearby Grab and Go site for breakfast and lunch.”

Grab-and-go meals will be available at the following locations: Allegheny, Perry, Spring Hill, Morrow Primary, Arlington/Murray, Beechwood, Brookline, Carmalt, Carrick, Concord, Grandview, Roosevelt Intermediate, Arsenal, Colfax, Faison, Greenfield, Mifflin, Obama, Students Ach. Center, Sunnyside, Westinghouse, Chartiers ECC, Greenway/PCA, Langley, Westwood, Miller, Milliones-U-Prep.

In addition to the breakfast and lunch meals, Pittsburgh Public Schools Food Service will also be giving out snacks and dinner for the Child and Adult Café Program, which has designated Citibank and community sites as serving locations.

Those locations include ACH Clear Pathways, Allegheny Dwellings, Ammon Recreation Center, Arlington Recreation Center, Brookline Recreation Center, East Hills, Jefferson Recreation Center, Paulson Recreation Center, Phillips Recreation Center, Project Destiny, Magee Recreation Center, Northview Heights, Salvation Army Homewood, Salvation Army Westside, Warrington Recreation Center.

The sites will also be active starting on August 31.
