PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - At least 750 Pittsburgh area residents are being sought for two national coronavirus vaccine studies at Pitt and UPMC.

The first vaccine now entering phase three was developed by Moderna out of Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Dr. Judy Martin, who is the Director of Clinical Trials at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh tells KDKA Radio, phase one results were published on Tuesday.

"There are some mild side affects you would anticipate with any vaccine but the bloodwork that they did on these individuals due show promising results."

Volunteers must be 18 or older and not immune-compromised. They are looking for subjects more likely to get COVID-19 based on work, age and Black and Latino populations.
