PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Police have arrested a man they say participated in the riots outside of PPG Paints Arena on May 30.
The Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office has 22-year-old Dajon Lengyel of McKees Rocks in custody after they say he was seen standing on top of a City of Pittsburgh Police vehicle that was spray painted and burned.
Authorities say Lengyel also stomped on the vehicle and swung a traffic cone through the vehicle’s window.
He also allegedly encouraged others to join in the destruction.
Sheriff’s Deputies found that Lengyel was living on Stowe Avenue and was apprehended without incident.
Lengyel faces charges of criminal mischief, institutional vandalism and riot.
Lengyel also has a bench warrant out for a domestic violence incident in Brentwood, where he failed to appear in court last June.
Charges from that domestic violence incident include simple assault, strangulation, terroristic threats and harassment.
The victim applied for a PFA which was soon violated by Lengyel.
