PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Police are searching for a man who was involved in an incident with two men claiming to be bounty hunters at the 7-11/BP on Heckle Road in Kennedy Township Monday afternoon.
A witness told Allegheny County Police that two men, who were dressed in “police garb” entered the store and approached a man identified as 21-year-old Kasaon Murphy around 2:50 p.m.
The men claimed they were bounty hunters and had a warrant from North Carolina.
The men tried to take Murphy into custody when a struggle broke out.
During the fight one of the men pulled out what appeared to be a handgun and pointed it at Murphy.
As the fight continued either the gun struck the window door or a shot was fired from the weapon causing it to shatter.
It is now believed that that weapon is a pellet gun, “made to look like an actual firearm.”
Murphy was taken into custody by the men claiming to be bounty hunters but he escaped and fled the scene.
The men also left and did not chase Murphy.
Police have found that Murphy does have several “active bench warrants within Pennsylvania”.
If you see Murphy you are urged to call 911 immediately.
Allegheny County Police have also contacted the agency that the bounty hunters work for in North Carolina and their “actions are still under investigation.”
