HARRISBURG (AP/Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Pennsylvania’s House and Senate have begun passing police reform legislation, including a bill to prevent “bad apples” from continuing to find employment in police department.
Wednesday’s votes were unanimous,
All four bills require approval from the other chamber before they are sent to Governor Tom Wolf’s desk.
One bill requires agencies to compile and report use of force incidents.
One bans police from using chokeholds.
The bills approved in the house will train officers in how to interact with people of different racial and ethnic backgrounds and require that an applicant’s former department provide information on the officer’s disciplinary history.
