PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - COVID-19 restrictions may loosen in Allegheny County while they toughen in four surrounding counties when health officials make an anticipated announcement Wednesday.

Allegheny could again allow outdoor dining and alcohol under revisions expected from Health Department Director Dr. Debra Bogen.

Beaver, Butler, Washington and Westmoreland Counties do not have health departments and may lose indoor dining under a directive from the state.

According to reports, indoor dining will be shut down for two weeks with outside dining and liquor sales outdoors allowed.

Washington County Commissioner Diana Irey Vaughan tells the KDKA Radio Morning Show,"So these mitigations efforts are something that the governor and Secretary Levine will be imposing, not county commissioners."

Vaughan says she opposes any new restrictions, even as pandemic numbers rise.

"I am grateful that they're not taking the position that they're going back to stay-at-home orders, instead they're doing a little bit of targeted mitigation," said Vaughan.

Vaughan adds a return to the stay at home order could result in something like a civil war.

PA Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine reportedly spoke with officials from all five counties on Tuesday.
