Sheetz Charity Raises Close To $1M In July

Altoona, Pa (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - A Sheetz charity organization driven by its the convenience store chain's employees, raised close to $1 million in July to help underpriviledged kids.

The Sheetz for the Kids in-store fundraising totalled $839,460 for the month, which is $205,000 more than last year.

“We are extremely grateful for our customers’ tremendous generosity,” said Brittany Funcheon, Executive Director for Sheetz For the Kidz. “We continue to be blown away by our customers, who through these challenging times, generously donated to this campaign in a major way. Their donations will make the holiday season brighter for thousands of children and families in need.”

Sheetz teams receives wish lists from local families through the Salvation Army. Then Sheetz employees shop, wrap and host holiday parties for the kids and their families.

More than 9,700 kids across six states benefitted from the program last year with $1.7 million distributed.
