HARRISBURG (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - On Monday, during a press briefing, Governor Tom Wolf said if it’s necessary, he will extend the Stay-at-Home order in Pennsylvania past April 30.
At this point I’m not moving it beyond April 30, but that may happen,” said Wolf.
Wolf said that as of now it’s too early to tell if the date will need to be moved and adds that the state’s mitigation efforts may be helping to keep coronavirus cases lower than expected.
“We talk about a 15 day lag between the time a case appears and the time we actually see some benefits but we are starting to see that the early exponential increase in cases has given away to a much flatter (curve) and so the surge may not be as great as we once anticipated, that’s our fervent hope,” said Wolf.
The Governor added that it is important that people continue to remain at home so that cases don’t spike and overwhelm health care systems.
PA Health Director Dr. Rachel Levine, calls now and the coming weeks, “a critical time in Pennsylvania in terms of the pandemic COVID-19, please stay home.”
