PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) — On the way to the governor’s desk: stronger telemarketing regulations passed unanimously by state lawmakers.
Representative Lori Migorski from Allegheny County sponsored the original legislation.
She tells Larry and John on KDKA Radio, it amends the current law that only keeps phone numbers on the “do not call list” for five years:
“It makes it that when you register that’s permanent so you only have to do it once, you’re one and done and you stay on the ‘Do Not Call’ list,” said Migorski.
The bill also requires an opt-out option at the beginning of each robo-call and bans them on legal holidays. Migorski says regulations will not stop illegal calls from overseas.
Governor Tom Wolf is expected to sign the measure into law.
