(Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Tom Hanks has been nominated for a Golden Globe for his role as Fred Rogers in “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood”
It was announced Monday morning that Hanks is one of five actors up for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture.
The other four nominated are Anthony Hopkins in “The Two Popes, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci for “The Irishman” and Brad Pitt for “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”.
Hanks filmed a large portion of the movie here in Pittsburgh and has landed praise from critics and movie-goers for his role as Mr. Rogers.
Pittsburgher Billy Porter was also nominated for a Golden Globe for his role as Pray Tell in the FX series “Pose”.
The 77th Annual Golden Globe Awards, hosted by Ricky Gervais, will air live on NBC January 5 at 6 p.m.
