PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Two unresponsive children, both 5-years-old, were taken from a home hours apart in Wilkinsburg Wednesday morning.
Wilkinsburg Police were called to the house on Franklin Avenue around 7:35 a.m. for reports of a possible carbon monoxide emergency.
When they arrived, they found a 5-year-old girl unresponsive.
While at the house, police learned a 5-year-old boy was taken out of the home hours earlier, also unresponsive.
He was rushed to the hospital around 1:44 a.m.
Allegheny County Police, who have since taken over the investigation, say the boy is listed in critical condition and the girl is in stable condition.
Tests done by the Pittsburgh Fire Department for carbon monoxide were negative.
Police say there are no signs of "obvious trauma and detectives are working with hospital staff and the Allegheny County Crime Lab to determine what caused the children to become unresponsive."
The children are believed to be twins.
Anyone with any information concerning the incident is asked to call 1-833-ALL-TIPS.
