Uniontown Walmart First To Sell Beer And Wine

UNIONTOWN, Pa. (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) — The Walmart in Uniontown is now the first in Pennsylvania to sell wine and beer.

The new Beer and Wine Café at the front of the Fayette County store opened at 1 p.m. on Thursday.

"This beer and wine café is a win for our customers who have been telling us they want the convenience of buying beer and wine while shopping at Walmart," said Walmart Southwest Pennsylvania Market Manager Karen Kallam. "We are grateful to the state and local officials who helped make this possible for our customers."

It will have separate operating hours from the rest of the store.

Similar licenses have been obtained by Walmarts in Beaver, Blair, Clearfield, Erie and Westmoreland counties. Walmart tells KDKA Radio It’s too early to know the exact locations.

Beer and wine will be sold at the Uniontown Walmart Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 a.m.
