
PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The University of Pittsburgh was one of the 27 colleges and universities selected to receive PepsiCo Recycling’s Zero Impact Fund for campus sustainability.
The Zero Impact Fund asked colleges across the country to submit proposals on how they could create green initiatives on their campuses.
A judging panel voted on the proposals to determine which were the most impactful, then awarding the schools with money to make their proposals a reality.
Winning proposals could receive up to $10k to help fund their ideas.
The University of Pittsburgh proposed to install an OZZI machine, which would allow the school to serve 50% of their to-go meals in reusable containers by 2025.
Their winning proposal came with the full $10k grant money.
Other winning schools include Waynesburg University, Ohio University, and Cleveland State University. To see all 27 schools, click here.
The Zero Impact Fund is now in its third year, PepsiCo Recycling is helping to support initiatives to redistribute food waste, produce cleaner energy, improve college recycling, and more.
