Health Department Director Details What Needs To Happen Before Allegheny Can Begin To Reopen Economy

Coronavirus Test

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Allegheny County Health Department Director Dr. Debra Bogan told reporters Wednesday three things will be necessary before the region's economy can start to reopen.

"We need to have a better understand of the spread in our own community, we need to have more testing available and we need to have surveillance available as well," said Dr. Bogan.

Bogan said so far only about one percent of the county's population has been tested which is why it's hard to understand how widespread the virus is.

She believes less than five percent of the Pittsburgh population has had coronavirus.
