HARRISBURG, Pa (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Governor Tom Wolf signed another renewal of the state's COVID-19 disaster declaration on Monday.

This second renewal extends the declaration for another 90 days.

“As we approach the six-month mark of this crisis, I continue to be amazed at the resiliency and strength shown by Pennsylvanians during this pandemic,” Gov. Wolf said. “We are going to continue to combat the health and economic effects of COVID-19, and the renewal of my disaster declaration will provide us with resources and support needed for this effort.”

According to the administration, the declaration supports agencies in the fight against the COVID-19 virus as the state reopens. It also allows for waivers and extensions of various requirements such as waiting periods for unemployment compensation and the suspension of training requirements for life-sustaining industries.

The original disaster declaration was made on March 6 and was set to expire on June 4. On June 3, Governor Wolf signed the first extension. That renewal was to expire on September 1. He signed the second 90-day renewal on August 31.
