Governor Tom Wolf has order the US flag and Pennsylvania's state flag be flown at half-staff on Friday in honor of Peace Officers Memorial Day.

The holiday, which is celebrated on May 15 every year, honors peace officers who have died or were disabled in the line of duty.

Pennsylvanians are encuraged to show their support for law enforcement by shining blue lights on Friday.

“Our law enforcement officials work around the clock to protect us and provide public safety,” said Gov. Wolf. “Now, more than ever, we should honor their commitment to our communities, which has given us a sense of security during this global pandemic.”

Flags in the Commonwealth have been flying at half-staff since early April to honor victims of COVID-19. The Wolf administration said the flags will remain at half-staff unil the pandemic is over.
