YORK, Pa (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) A 19-year-old woman from York County, Pa could be facing $200 penalty for violating the Pennsylvania’s stay-at-home order.
Anita Shaffer was pulled over by two state police cars while on a drive and given a ticket for $200.
Shaffer said she was aware of the order, but didn't know it pertained to just driving and had no plans on exiting her car.
The officer claimed to pull her over for violating Gov. Tom Wolf’s stay-at-home order, a broken tail light, and window tint.
Shaffer would later come to find out that her taillight is working just fine.
According to Shaffer in an interview with Penn Live, she said the troopers asked if she was under the influence or on drugs and asked her to step out of her vehicle.
Gov. Wolf has stated that the state police should be focusing on ordering citations for businesses failing to comply with the order and not individuals.
Police spokesman Ryan Tarkowski, said that Shaffer’s citation is the first and only one given to an individual or business in the entire state, the rest have only been warnings.
Shaffer has pleaded not guilty and plans on bringing the matter to a district judge.
