Box Office News - Theater owners are breathing a sigh of relief this week. Disney/Marvel Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings delivered the second highest grossing film of the pandemic era by blowing past industry predictions and brought in a Marvel-ous 3 day weekend total of $71.4 million, coming up short of the MCU hit Black Widow at $80 million.

Typically, one of the slowest box-office periods and weighted by the surging variant, Executive Producers, studio heads, as well as theater owners had their eyes on Shang-Chi looking for signs on how to proceed heading into the fall/winter movie season. We will see if this "shot in the arm" is enough for the industry to hold the line and ride out these next couple of weeks with no wide releases scheduled. October 1st will bring us potential hits as Venom: Let there be Carnage, The Addams Family 2 and the Tony Soprano origin film The Many Saints of Newark are scheduled for wide theatrical release.

There are no wide releases this weekend
