This year, Larry's Hometown Heroes will be honoring:
Kevin Colbert – Lifetime Achievement
Born in Pittsburgh, Kevin Colbert earned his sport management degree from Robert Morris University before becoming a legendary NFL executive. As Steelers General Manager, he helped build two Super Bowl championship teams. A distinguished RMU alumnus and longtime civic leader, Colbert continues to make an impact in his hometown.
Kelly Gilliam
A two-time breast cancer survivor, Kelly Gilliam turned her own experiences into a lifelong commitment to helping others. Through her work with the University of Pittsburgh, Shiloh Church and Life Builders, she has helped thousands of local families through food distribution, community programs and crisis support, while also serving her South Park community through youth sports and countless acts of service.
Collin Arthrell
At just 16, Collin Arthrell has already made an incredible impact through his nonprofit, Collin’s Elves, which has sent more than 50,000 care packages to deployed service members since 2018. He also gives back locally, including donating 700 backpacks and thousands of school supplies this year, while balancing school, sports and a part-time job.
Chris Staud
Through the Forgotten Flag Foundation, Chris Staud works to restore neglected American flags, promote proper flag etiquette and honor those who have served our country. His work includes the James Hanna Project, which honors veterans by carrying their legacy forward through flag dedications and displays across the country.
Herky Pollock
Pittsburgh business leader Herky Pollock became a Hometown Hero when he stopped to help a man threatening to jump from the 40th Street Bridge. Drawing from the loss of his own stepfather, Pollock stayed with the man and helped emergency responders successfully talk him to safety after a three-hour effort.
Carly & Kyle Kyper
Through the 4:12 Foundation, Carly and Kyle Kyper have provided 282 grants totaling more than $887,000 since 2021. Their foundation supports children facing illness, disabilities or difficult circumstances, as well as local families experiencing unexpected tragedies and hardships.
