PITTSBURGH (Newsradio1020 KDKA) - Highmark Health is putting $ 20 million into upgrades at 5th Avenue Place Downtown.
Executive Vice President and COO Karen Hanlon says Pittsburgh evolves, so must the building and its offerings:
"Many of the upgrades will take place throughout the lobby space as well as in the retail space, spaces that are available for the public," said Hanlon.
Dana Garcia, Vice President of Real Estate for Highmark tells KDKA Radio's Lynn Hayes-Freeland it's been 30 years since a big investment was made into the building's public areas.
"What we're really talking about her is focused on the exterior entrances of the building as well as the first two floors of retail and food areas," said Garcia.
Garcia adds the new retail space will be accommodating to potential new retails and the expansion is important to move the building into the 20th century.
