Kennywood Holiday Lights To Feature PA's Tallest Christmas Tree
PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – Kennywood is prepping for the holiday season!
The ninth season of Kennywood’s Holiday Lights begins Friday, November 22 and will feature a 100-foot Christmas tree.
It's the tallest in the state of Pennsylvania.
This year’s holiday celebration will offer rides on the Kangaroo, Merry-Go-Round, Noah’s Ark, Kiddieland rides, Thomas Town, and one new feature-- Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer 4D.
The park is offering an interactive Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer experience inside of the Kennywood’s 4D Theater by using the same stop-motion animation as the movie.
Other features in the park include nightly readings from Pittsburgh celebrities of ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas, a model train display in the Penny Arcade, Dinner with Santa, and more.
Kennywood is also teaming up with 412 Food Rescue to host a personal care item drive throughout the season.
Visitors are asked to bring items like toothpaste, soap, diapers during the weekends of November 22nd through December 8th.
Participants will receive a coupon good for $6 off admission for up to 4 people.
“The holidays are about much more than presents and parties, and we want help our neighbors in need,” Kennywood General Manager Jerome Gibas said in a release. “Being able to use Holiday Lights to assist people in our community is an obvious choice for us.”
“Teaming up for this Holiday Lights personal care item drive brings together two of the best traditions in our region: Kennywood and the unbeatable compassion and generosity of our neighbors,” 412 Food Rescue Senior Program Director Jen England said in a release. “The gift of taking one more worry off the shoulders of struggling parents and seniors truly lights up the holidays!”
You can celebrate the holiday season every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night through December 22 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and every night between December 26th through 30th. Tickets begin $18.49.
