PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Dessie Mitcheson is the model of Halloween costume that has sparked a lot of different feelings in Pittsburgh.
Mitcheson, a Pittsburgh native, is the model for the "sexy Mister Rogers" custom that comes complete with puppets and a wig.
She tells KDKA Radio's Lynne Hayes Freeland that it was a complete coincidence that she is the model of the controversial costume.
"I've been modeling Halloween costumes since I was 20, 21 and I'm 29 and yeah it was defiantly a coincidence, the company didn't even know that I was born and raised in Pittsburgh."
"I thought this could be fun if I'm the girl in this costume."
Depending on the circumstances, Mitcheson says would wear the costume on Halloween herself.
The costume resembles a sexy school teacher type costume but when the wig and puppets are included, you can tell it is designed to resemble Fred Rogers.
Mitcheson knows she could've said no to modeling the costume and while she can see why some people could be offended, she says it's all in good fun.
"We all love Mister Rogers and this is definitely a crazy perception of him but it's definitely for fun."
In addition to modeling, Mitcheson was featured on the hit CBS show "The Amazing Race"
