PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Kennywood has been on hold the past three months, but operations are beginning to resume around the park.
On Sunday, Kennywood gave a sneak peak of the new “Old Mill”.
The ride that has been known as “Garfield’s Nightmare” since 2004 will revert to its original name and theme this season.
The Old Mill, opened in 1901 and is Kennywood’s oldest ride, still standing.
The Mill has had various names over the years including, The Fairyland Floats, The Rapids Gorge and The Panama Canal.
In the 1970s it became Hardheaded Harold’s Horrendously Humorous Haunted Hideaway but once again became The Old Mill in the 1990s and kept the western theme when it was the Haunted Hideaway.
The ride will be restored to its “retro western theme” and will feature new twists and turns for a new generation.
Kennywood is currently hiring employees and will make an announcement soon on when they will open for 2020.
